Bonney Lake Skystone
The Bonney Lake petroglyph boulder, a massive andesite glacial erratic, is located within the traditional lands of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. About twenty miles east of Tacoma (Pierce County), it is now, with the recent Naches Terrace housing development, within the city limits of the City of Bonney Lake. Its presence was obscured by time and was lost to public memory until 1999 when a nearby housing development called Panorama Heights brought it to light as an object of concern. Dubbed Skystone by two researchers in 2000, it is available to the public for viewing and promoted by the City through the Greater Bonney Lake Historical Society as one of its eleven historic markers. Notably the stone is about a mile south of the famous Naches Trail that connects Bonney Lake and Puget Sound to Yakima on the eastern Columbia Plateau.
